Get started with Camunda and DMN 1.3

This tutorial guides you through modeling your first DMN 1.3 decision table and executing it with the Camunda Platform.

Standalone DMN engine

Note that it is also possible to use the DMN engine independently from the Camunda Platform. Please refer to the User Guide and the Example for more details.

You will be guided through the following steps:

Download and Installation
Install the Camunda Platform and Camunda Modeler on your machine.
Project Setup
Set up an Apache Maven-based process application inside Eclipse.
Create a Decision Table
Learn the basics of handling the Camunda Modeler and learn how to create and configure a fully executable decision table.
Evaluate and Deploy the Decision Table
Use Java Code to evaluate the decision table, then deploy the web application to Apache Tomcat and verify the result in Cockpit.
Decision Requirements Graph
Model a Decision Requirements Graph based on the decision table, adjust the Java Code to evaluate it and deploy the web application.
